The Growing Brain Series, from Zero to Three module 3 on Communications and Language Development.
During this training we will learn and discuss that communication starts at birth with children starting with facial expressions, gestures, and sounds that let us know how are they are feeling. Communication skills begin to emerge in the earliest months of life but take years to develop….During this period, children often face challenges and frustrations in attempts to have their needs, ideas, and questions understood. Adults, too, are challenged to interpret the wide range of sounds, expressions, and body movements that very young children use to communicate.
The complexity of language input- how rich and descriptive our language is during interactions with children- is a significant factor that influences the development of the areas of the brain related to language. We will learn more about child development and language skills to support the children in our care.
