Does the sound of a child’s laughter fill you with joy? Would you rather spend your days teaching children how to learn and play instead of working behind a desk? If you or someone you know is entering a career in child care and early learning, the Child Care Basics training is a basic job requirement.
Child Care Basics is a Washington State 30-hour required training for Child Care Center and Family Home Child Care Staff. Classes are available online, and Child Care Aware also periodically leads Child Care Basics training in Whatcom, Snohomish, and Skagit Counties.
Child Care Basics prepares early learning professionals to care for children as they gain knowledge about child development, planning engaging activities, guiding appropriate behavior, and maintaining healthy environments. Interactive learning activities, video clips, discussion questions, and additional resources provide a variety of learning opportunities. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs and licensing requirements of both child care center staff and family home child care providers.
The next training is coming up in Bellingham starting on August 25. This is an in-person training with significant reading and homework requirements (approximately 9-12 hours). See our training calendar to register and learn alongside other students dedicated to working with children in our community.
