DESCRIPTION:Emergent Curriculum is an approach that allows young children’s interests to take the lead! In this training\, participants will learn about how teachers can implement emergent curriculum. This training will cover: the role of the adult\, child\, and environment; the importance of play-based learning; how assessment works in an emergent curriculum; and creating plans. SUMMARY:Playful Learning with Everyday Materials
DESCRIPTION:Young children learn through hands-on play! In this free training\, we’ll explore how we can promote children’s playful learning with open-ended materials.  Participants will engage in play and planning activities to learn actionable ways to support all areas of development\, leaving with new ideas to implement in their early learning setting. \nParticipants receive 1.5 STARS hours for attending this class and completing a short homework assignment. \nThis training takes place on the Whatcom Community College campus\, in the Syre Student Center\, room 107-108.  Participants attend this training from 5-6 pm\, and receive a beverage ticket for the social hour from 6-7 pm at Larrabee Lager Co\, across the street.  Refreshments provided! \nTrainers: Allie Bishop and Julie Wasilewski \nReach out to childcare@oppco.org with any questions.
