Lead and Assistant Teacher

Orcas Island Children’s House is currently seeking warm and kind-hearted early childhood educators for our growing program. We are an Infant-Toddler Center and Preschool on Orcas Island, serving children 1month – 6years, we have full-time and part-time positions available.

-Lead Teacher – Plums Classroom (ages 2.5y-3.5y)
-Assistant Teacher

Teachers at Children’s House provide a dynamic play-based curriculum that prepares children for kindergarten and life; play is at the heart of what we do. Teachers enjoy small class sizes and low student-to-teacher ratios. At Children’s House we provide a warm nurturing setting for children to receive a bespoke education that lasts a lifetime.
 
Teacher responsibilities:
-Plan and implement daily play-based learning experiences for children
-Model emotional intelligence and respond to the social and emotional needs of children
-Support children’s growing independence and self-care
-Observe and document children’s learning
-Maintain child portfolios
-Work cooperatively and professionally with staff members and parents
-Maintain clean, healthy and organized classroom environment
-Attend staff meetings, trainings and school functions
 
Hourly rates range from $16-$19/hr depending on position and experience. We offer generous paid time off, supportive and professional work environment and scholarships for teachers pursuing a degree or certificate in early childhood education. Priority will be given to candidates fluent in Spanish and/or those with a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education. Priority also given to candidates willing to pursue one of the degrees above within six months of hire.
