Online: Best Practices – Introduction to ERS-3
This is one of six modules in the Best Practices Series that supports Early Achievers by emphasizing high-quality adult practices measured by the Environment Rating Scale – Third Edition (ERS-3). This session will introduce measurements, definitions of terms, and how to score the assessment. Participants will focus on themes in the tools and will examine what they already know about these themes: teaching and interactions, quality learning environments and best practice.
Learning Objective
Participants will be able to articulate what is new in the ERS-3 tools, the meaning of the terms, and the levels of quality in scoring. After a short introduction to best practices and watching a video on language and interactions, participants will be able to identify how to expand language and conversation with materials. After listening to a lecturette on characteristics of a quality learning environment, engaging in a discussion about best practices in interest areas, participants will be able to demonstrate their understanding of elements of quality and best practice.
